Suzhou Classical Gardens in Jiangsu are famed for creating “a universe within a small space.” Dating from the Spring–Autumn period and thriving in Ming–Qing, over 50 remain, including nine UNESCO sites like the Humble Administrator’s Garden. 周庄古镇 Zhouzhuang Ancient Town
周庄古镇位于江苏省苏州昆山市,始建于1086年,被誉为“中国第一水乡”,是江南六大古镇之一。古镇四面环水,井字型河道上保存14座元、明、清古石桥,60%以上民居为明清建筑,800余户居民沿河而居。沈厅、张厅、双桥和富安桥最为著名。
Zhouzhuang, in Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu, founded in 1086, is called “China’s First Water Town” and one of the six major ancient towns of Jiangnan. Surrounded by water with a grid of canals, it preserves 14 ancient stone bridges and mainly Ming–Qing houses, with over 800 riverside residents. Notable sites include Shen Hall, Zhang Hall, Shuang Bridge, and Fu’an Bridge.
南京夫子庙 Nanjing Confucius Temple
南京夫子庙位于秦淮河北岸,始建于东晋,是供奉孔子的文庙,也是中国四大文庙之一、首批AAAAA级景区。作为“六朝金粉地”的文化中心,它以大成殿为核心,融合孔庙、学宫、江南贡院等明清古建筑群,毗邻十里秦淮,集文化、游览、小吃和购物于一体。
Nanjing Confucius Temple, on the north bank of the Qinhuai River, was founded in the Eastern Jin and honors Confucius. A 5A-level site and cultural center of the “Six Dynasties Glamour,” it features the Dacheng Hall and Ming–Qing buildings, including the Confucius Temple, Imperial Academy, and Jiangnan Examination Hall, offering culture, sightseeing, snacks, and shopping.
扬州瘦西湖 Yangzhou Slender West Lake
扬州瘦西湖是国家5A级旅游景区、世界文化遗产(大运河遗产点),以“瘦长蜿蜒”的湖景著称,融合南方秀美与北方雄伟。园林始于清康乾时期,核心景观包括五亭桥、白塔、二十四桥、徐园和小金山,素有“园林之盛,甲于天下”美誉。
Slender West Lake in Yangzhou, a 5A-level scenic area and UNESCO World Heritage site (Grand Canal), is famed for its long, winding shape blending southern elegance with northern grandeur. Originating in the Qing Kang–Qian era, key sights include Five Pavilion Bridge, White Pagoda, Twenty-Four Bridges, Xu Garden, and Little Jinshan, known as “the finest of gardens.”
连云港花果山 Lianyungang Huaguo Mountain
连云港花果山位于江苏省连云港市海州区云台山脉,是国家5A级旅游景区和国家地质公园,以《西游记》中“孙悟空老家”闻名。主峰玉女峰海拔624.4米,是江苏最高峰。景区特色包括“山海相依、大圣文化、古树名木”,主要景点有水帘洞、三元宫、九龙桥、阿育王塔及猴园。
Huaguo Mountain in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, a 5A-level scenic area and national geopark, is famed as the legendary home of Sun Wukong from Journey to the West. Its main peak, Yunu Peak, rises 624.4 m, the highest in Jiangsu. Highlights include Water Curtain Cave, Sanyuan Palace, Nine-Dragon Bridge, Ashoka Tower, and the monkey park, set amid mountains, sea, ancient trees, and Monkey King culture.
阳澄湖大闸蟹 Yangcheng Lake Crab
阳澄湖大闸蟹产自苏州阳澄湖,是中华绒螯蟹中的珍品,以“青壳、白肚、金爪、黄毛”著称,素有“蟹中之王”的美誉。其肉质紧实鲜甜、蟹膏丰腴,是受保护的中国国家地理标志产品。最佳品尝时节为农历九月的雌蟹与十月的雄蟹。
Yangcheng Lake hairy crab, produced in Suzhou’s Yangcheng Lake, is prized for its firm, sweet meat and rich roe. Known for its distinctive features and hailed as the “King of Crabs,” it is a protected Chinese Geographical Indication product, best enjoyed in the ninth lunar month for females and the tenth for males.
南京盐水鸭 Nanjing Salted Duck
南京盐水鸭是金陵菜(南京菜)的经典代表,传承已有两千五百多年。因桂花时节制作风味最佳,又称“桂花鸭”。其皮白肉嫩、肥而不腻,口感清香鲜美,以“香、酥、嫩”闻名,是中国地理标志产品和江苏省级非物质文化遗产。
Nanjing Salted Duck is a signature dish of Jinling cuisine with a history of over 2,500 years.
